Walking Weekend Has BEGUN!

Our 3 Day 60 Mile walk is finally here!

My team of gals and I are headed to San Diego as we speak!

We're heading out today (Wednesday), have reserved a full play/dine/shop day (Thursday) and will begin our walk (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).

I promise to take photos (and actually post them... har har har) and write all about the amazing experience that awaits!

Still not sure what the heck this walk IS?  Well...  You can watch a short video about it here.
You can read about why I'm walking and see how much I've raised here.
AND... if you feel like watching a bit of a tear-jerker, here is the 3-Day commercial.

Lastly, the 3-Day folks have partnered up with Bank of America to offer a service called Connections.  Basically, I've allowed good ol' BofA to access my Twitter (and personal Facebook) accounts to post updates about where I am on the walk!  You can empathize with the pain in my feet from the comfort of your home!  BONUS round:  Follow along with our experience in real time on my Instagram account.

A World Where There Are Octobers

Have you seen this lovely quote before?  I have.  I read the Anne of Green Gables books ravenously when I was a child, and I never truly understood what Anne was talking about until I got out of my Mojave Desert California town and came to Kansas.

Kansas does autumn right!

Scarecrow Crunch

It's autumn!  Autumn is one of my favorite times of year.  Pumpkin flavored everything, the changing colors of nature, football in full swing...  Sigh.  So lovely!

Speaking of snacks (and the non-sequitur award goes to...), have you heard of something called "Scarecrow Crunch"?  Well, if you haven't you should.

It's absurdly easy, a breeze to throw together, and is great for a game day snack.

Sunflowers at Sunset

A few weeks ago as I was pulling off the highway exit to our little town, I laid my eyes upon an amazing Kansas sunset.  What struck me most was the sunflower field in front of me, creating the perfect foreground to the glory happening in the sky.

Kansas knows how to make a sunset, and I'm constantly in awe of her beauty.   This photographer agrees with me, and some of his photos leave me green with jealousy.  I'd love to be able to capture sunsets like him someday!

Sorry.  Sunset envy.

This Week in PK: October 3, 2014

October?  OCTOBER?  Holy cats!  How is it already October?

While I recover from my hysteria by breathing into a paper bag you can read on.
