Chiefs Tailgating Photo Diary (Better Late Than Never!)

For the record, I am, have always been, and will forevermore remain to be a Green Bay Packers fan.  That being said, Mr. Pihl is, has always been, and will forevermore remain to be a Kansas City Chiefs fan.  

We're all clear on that now, right?  Okay, awesome.

Mr. Pihl and I went to the Kansas City Chiefs game on Sunday, and I took a whole slew of photos.  Most of them are of the tailgate-culture (which I promise - you don't want to miss), and I'll be posting them later this week.  For now, I'll leave you with this assignment:

Another week has flown by!  And guess what?  That means that we're one week closer to FOOTBALL SEASON!!!

Can you tell that I'm excited?  I am.  I am I am I am.

Last night was the last preseason game for my beloved Green Bay Packers, and they happened to be playing the Kansas City Chiefs.  The Chiefs are the team of choice of my beloved, so a Packers-meets-the-Chiefs game is a big deal in our house.

The fact that it was only a preseason game (read: practice game to work out a team's kinks and test players) was good for our marriage.  Had it been a real game, one of us would not be speaking to the other today.

No joke.

So, you've probably seen the news from yesterday's World Cup match featuring the USA and Belgium.  Mr. Pihl and I are a wee bit heartbroken, yet are incredibly impressed with the efforts of the USMNT.

The excitement.  The adrenaline.  The heartache.

Tuesday Ten

Whew, what a week!

I don't know about you, but the last seven days have been nutty.  Absolutely nutty!

In an attempt to organize my crazy while sharing some of the highlights of our week (this one's for you, mom) I'm going to start a new tradition on Pihling Kansas.

Rather than tell you what Tuesday Ten will be about, let me show you...

As a wedding present my colleague, friend, and fellow librarian collected a sample of our invitations, RSVP cards, and our programs and sent them out to StudioNCreations on Etsy.com.  When I got to work on Thursday these two lovely keepsakes were waiting for me.

Aren't they awesome?!

I can't wait to get my act together and take them home after having them sit on my desk for 4.89537 days and show them to Mr. Pihl.

It was a rough weekend in the Pihl household.

The Kansas City Chiefs lost.

The Kansas University Jayhawks lost.

The Green Bay Packers lost.

See what I mean?  Rough.

I won't bore you with all of the gnarly details, but the art of sports fan-dom is taken very seriously in our household.  When our team loses, we feel it in our hearts.  When they win, we celebrate with them, turning Gatorade jugs over on each other.
