Merry Christmas from the Pihls!

Merry Christmas!  This year has shown Mr. Pihl and myself more blessings, love, and opportunities than we could have possibly imagined.  What will 2015 have in store for us?  Only our Lord knows!

Merry Christmas to you and yours,

Love Mr. & Mrs. Pihl {and the bird}

4th of July Weekend Photo Diary: Part 2

Yesterday I posted photos from our night of Independence Day festivities.

Today I'll be sharing photos from the day after the Independence Day festivities.

Confused yet?  I am.

4th of July Weekend Photo Diary: Part 1

Mr. Pihl's grandmother beat all of us in the unofficial patriotic spirit contest.
How was everyone's long weekend?  Ours was fan-tab-ulous.

I'll spare you the boring (ie: productive/exhausting/accomplished) details of the weekend where Mr. Pihl and I cleaned like banshees, and jump right into the fun parts.

Have Yourself a Married Little Christmas

Wait, married Christmas?

Don't mind me.  I'm a newlywed.

But in the meantime, I would like to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas, full of love, laughter, and maybe a Christmas miracle or two.

And in the spirit of being a newlywed, I leave you with this year's Christmas card.

Sickeningly sweet, isn't it?

In case I haven't mentioned it enough on here, I'm obsessed with our wedding photographer's amazing style.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,

Mrs. (and Mr.) Pihl

Marshmallow World

I have a confession to make to you.

I have very mixed feelings on snow.  These feelings have always erred on more on the side of dislike rather than appreciation.

I know.  I'm the snow Grinch.  Sorry, Dr. Seuss.

But hear me out.  When I see snow, I see crazy drivers, unsafe roads, and my leetle sedan doing battle with the Kansas elements.

Yesterday's circumstances however allowed for me to appreciate the real beauty of this particular form of precipitation.

It was our first weekend since our November wedding where we had zero plans.  We could hunker down, cuddle up, and have a Christmas movie marathon (with the KU basketball game thrown in for good measure) while watching the snow falling outside.  Ah, newlyweds.  Aren't we sickeningly sweet?

There's No Place Like Home for the Holidays

I love this season.  Truly I do.

The orange pomanders, the music, the treats, the magic...

But... amidst all that magic, nobody ever mentions the mail.

Christmas cards are wonderful, and we've received some truly lovely cards this year.  Really!

I mean come on-- where else but in a stack of Christmas cards can you get a healthy dose of tiny human pictures?!  And folks are getting so creative!  I'm convinced our friends have all given birth to tiny models.

Um, back to the mail.

My point is this:

Wow, right?

This is what I came home to one night this week.

You should see our recycling bin.  Whew!

Needless to say, I made Mr. Pihl carry in the heavy ones.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas (in spite of my many cardboard-box-induced papercuts)!
